COUNTDOWN TO EUROVISION : Norway

It's now less than one month before the crowds flock to see all the glitz, the glamour and all the questionable fashions of the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. We're continuing our look at some of the entries that will be vying for this year's coveted crown at Moscow's Indoor Olympic Arena on May 14 and we'll continue to do so in the countdown to this year's competition. With video clips for some of the entries and live performances for the rest, introducing our next scintillating act.

NORWAY : Alexander Rybak - Fairytale

Once again, an entry for Eurovision 2009 displays just how much the annual event brings the continent together. 22 year old Alexander was born in a part of the Soviet Union that now belongs to Belarus and he's lived with his family in Norway for the past 18 years. He was the winner of the Norwegian version of Idol in 2006 and after appearing on stage and screen, he won his country's selection for Eurovision 2009 through Norway's Melodi Grand Prix 2009 with a song he wrote entirely by himself. He also plays the violin. Watch out Rieu, he's stealing your thunder!
