Well the Black Eyed Peas once again dominate the ARIA singles chart this week - but just which single has made it to the top - the incumbent 'Boom Boom Pow' or the challenger 'I Gotta Feeling'?
SINGLES : It was indeed the new single 'I Gotta Feeling' which hit the top spot this week for the very first time, ousting the band's previous single 'Boom Boom Pow' from the No.1 position. And 'I Gotta Feeling' sold over 2000 copies more than it's predecessor in the week to claim pole. 13,235 copies of 'I Gotta Feeling' to 10,857 of 'Boom Boom Pow'. But Lady Gaga wasn't too far away from spoiling another Black Eyed Peas one-two party. Her single 'Paparazzi' bagged an impressive 10,684 copies within the week to hold steady at No.3. From No.5 to No.8, there were four entries all bulleting their way into the top ten; Taylor Swift 'You Belong With Me' (No.13 to No.5 - 6694 copies), David Guetta ftg. Kelly Rowland 'When Love Takes Over' (No.15 to No.6 - 6620 copies), Linkin Park 'New Divide' (No.22 to No.7 - 6534 copies) and Hilltop Hoods 'Chase That Feeling' (No.16 to No.8 - 6361 copies). Labelmates The Script, Jessica Mauboy and Pink all dropped out of the top ten and Jordin Sparks increased her chart clout, heading 16 places upwards - 3703 copies of 'Battlefield' gifting her a No.18 position. The Gossip, with no local physical single of 'Heavy Cross' debuts at No.34 (up from No.59 last week) with 2120 sales, Snob Scrilla's song with no name debuts at No.41 (1770 sales), Green Day is in at No.44 with '21 Guns' (1628 sales) and La Roux simply tumbles into the top 50 with 'In For The Kill' (1447 copies sold).
Outside the top 50, there are debuts at No.61 for The Lonely Island's 'Dick In A Box' (1079 copies), No.88 for Basement Jaxx's 'Raindrops' (731 copies) and No.91 for Jet's 'She's A Genius' (700 copies).
ALBUMS : The Hilltop Hoods bagged over 27,000 copies of their new album 'State Of The Art' last week to hold the No.1 mantle. They do so again for a second week with week - but with less than half the number of albums sold. The album is now officially classified with GOLD sales accreditation for sales of 35,000 copies or more (not a bad effort in just two weeks), selling a further 12,145 copies in their second week. The Black Eyed Peas hold steady at No.2 with 'The E.N.D.' (9066 copies) as do Pink ('Funhouse' at No.3) and Lily Allen ('It's Not Me It's You' at No.4). There's a new entry at No.5 for the brothers Jonas - their new album 'Lines, Vines And Trying Times' debuting with 4892 sales, more than 2000 copies behind Lily Allen. It's 'debuts' all 'round for local outfit The Temper Trap debuting at No.9 with their debut album 'Conditions' (3670 copies). Unlucky for some, The Gossip debuts at No.13 with 'Music For Men' (3213 copies), while there are also debuts in the teens at No.16 (Dream Theatre's 'Black Clouds & Silver Lining' with 2695 copies) and No.17 (Alexisonfire's 'Old Crows/Young Cardinals' with 2620 copies). And the soundtrack to the explosive new 'Transformers' film pOps in at No.33 (1476 copies).
