THE GREAT SUGABABES DEBATE

We haven't done a debate here on auspOp for quite some time, but given the news earlier today that Keisha Buchanan (the only original member of British girl group Sugababes left) has now been given the flick, we thought we might throw it over to you and let you have your say as to what you think should happen to the Sugababes now. We've given you five different choices and have whacked them into a poll over in the sidebar. Is it time for the girls to hang up their Sugaboots? Should they just keep going like nothing's happened? Choose once - choose twice.

I think some music groups have reached a point now where they're brands rather than bands. Die hard fans are likely to shun this new group but then there's also the chance that they'll pick up new fans as well. The fact is that much of the Sugababes success hasn't been based on their vocal performance - rather the choice of producers. As great as they are (and I am a huge fan), they seem to be a band that handle interchanges well, and I think they will survive this. One more leaves though and its time to call it quits.

I understood when Siobhan left; and then when Mutya left it was like - well ok then. . . but now that Keisha is gone, it's gone too far. No original members means no more b(r)and.
Unfortunately Bananarama had drama's after only one replacement; and now they've been a twosome for years. . . imagine if SugaBabes drops back to the original members only. . . there'd be no-one left!! :)

Thanks Mixman000 - that has to be one of the best sentiments written about this whole 'fiasco'.
And while there's no denying the girls are talented, there's also no denying the fact the girls have become puppets in the big bad music machine that can be the industry.
I understand they may try and crack America next?
A fresh line-up without 'baggage' is probably best.
Look at it from a business angle...and not a sentimental one.
