If Sydney songstress '@m8er' (Amber) wanted to cause a bit of a stir with her debut single 'Kill That Bitch', she's most certainly succeeding in her quest - on so many fronts. She's answered back all the 'haters' who've commented negatively on her YouTube clip (HERE) with a little 'thankyou' on her Myspace site (HERE).Our initial interest in '@m8er' was peaked with the delivery of her electro pop debut single to radio earlier today. What begins as a bouncy, up-tempo number turns into a tune that name checks a number of high profile celebrities that '@m8er' would love to 'kill'.
Now there are a number of 'celebrities' that curl our toes (many of whom are actually name checked in the track), but we're certainly not going to hit the streets and starting singing gleeful songs about potentially knocking them off. That's just silly.
But the lyrics of the track aren't the only thing that made us squirm. The press release, sent out to introduce the track to media, feels desperately contrived. There are the deliberate spelling mistakes ('kool', 'skool'), leaving the 'g' off the end of words ('fuckin', 'doin'), abbreviating words ('wkd'), the swearing ('bullshit', 'shite') etc. But these are contrasted by perfect punctuation and spelling. Here 'tis (in bold), word for word;
"I've been spending a shit load of time in London and NY and got into a heap of trouble.
My story is this: I am actually from Sydney (best city in the world!) and I was raised by my mum, aunty and grandma. Being brought up in an all girl house hold was the best! I was always allowed to have my say, there was none of this 'ask your father' bullshit. I never got that when my friend’s mums would say "you have to ask your father". Doesn't your mum have a brain?
Anyway, where is this going? ha ha.. So i finish skool, get an agent and start working.
Did some real kool stuff and did some pure shite, but it was all fun to me! Audition for NIDA young actors, anxiously await their response, I get in and it's the most BORING course in the history of the universe.
So in London, i get up to so much mischief and have a ball! A real mad mad adventure.
After a bit of this and that, i cruise on back to NY where i get into a wkd drama skool.
This one i love. See the thing is, i can act. I'm pretty good at it, but i don't wanna be an actor. Music is my first love. My passion. And words, i fuckin LOVE words so i guess acting is like my mistress. So i start gigging, doin some acoustic shows, and i meet two people that would change my life forever.
From @m8er…"
(Surely given the 'kool', 'skool', 'wkd', '@m8er' thing, the last word in the presser surely should've been spelled '4eva'?)
But if her musical quest to 'kill' her least liked celebrities wasn't enough to leave you totally appalled, Amber's Myspace page also has a number of delightful t-shirts that the singer wears which give such positive and life-affirming messages as "Amber says ginger hair is bad", "Amber says tell a fat girl her clothes don't suit her", "Amber pretends she has tourettes shit fuck shit" and "Amber says take a black man to a klan meet".
So '@m8er' doesn't like the 'haters', but she seems totally ready herself to dish out the hate to minority groups!?
The more we see (and hear) about this entire project, the more we dislike.

This would have to be the lamest piece of crap ever...and it's intentional?
She is filth.
ANything for publicity eh.
Meanwhile - has anyone asked SOny for a PLEASE EXPLAIN on these 1 track CDSingles ?
what were you thinking posting this on auspOp?! damn straight there's so many things wrong with this. i personally have nothing against celeb bashing, it's quite entertaining when you do it right (i.e. eminem), but she sucks. please dont post about her again - my ears are bleeding...
As one who has heard more, I can tell you honestly that I fully disagree with the choice of first single . . except the fact it stirs you bunch of halfwit sharks into a feeding frenzy . . (why bother?) . . ask her to hear "It's over" or " Don't get mad get even" and tell me there's no substance . . or at least a good time . . . peas . . T
