CHART WATCH

Not much going on up top of the ARIA singles chart this week, apart from a new entry in the top ten from Jay-Z, but on the albums chart, Warner Music is celebrating a new No.1.

SINGLES : David Guetta doesn't look like moving anywhere for the time being - his track 'Sexy Bitch' remains in pole position on the ARIA singles chart for another week, shifting a further 14,988 copies. Guy Sebastian's still the bridesmaid in second with 'Like It Like That' bagging another 11,951 copies. German dance outfit Cascada move up one spot to No.3 - their highest chart position yet for 'Evacuate The Dancefloor' (9705 copies), while the Black Eyed Peas now have two singles in the top five - 'I Gotta Feeling' at No.4, presumably helped along by it's use in the new Channel 9 idents (8873 copies) and 'Meet Me Halfway' at No.5 (8841 copies). Of course, the fact the band's now in the country most certainly wouldn't be doing their chart cause any harm.
Jay-Z is in the top ten with a little assistance from Rihanna and Kanye - 'Run This Town' sells a further 4662 copies.
Further down, and The Script and La Roux both benefit from some time on Aussie soil - The Script up nine places to No.17 with 'Before The Worst' (3000 sales) and La Roux up 12 places to No.18 with 'Bulletproof' (2968 copies).
The success of Muse's album on the albums chart has started to translate into sales for their single 'Uprising' - it's doing just that, ascending a further ten places this week to No.23 (2471 sales). Also moving into the top 30 this week are 3OH!3 with Katy Perry ('Starstrukk' at No.28 - 2257 sales) and Wale with Lady Gaga ('Chillin' - debuting at No.29 with 2212 sales).
Further down, there's a debut for the cast of Channel 10's show 'Glee' - 'Take A Bow' coming in at No.38 with 1873 sales, while The Script breaks back into the top 40 at No.40 with 'Breakeven' (1779 sales).
Michael Buble debuts at No.41 with 'Haven't Met You Yet' (1764 sales) and Mariah's Foreigner cover 'I Want To Know What Love Is' comes in at No.45 (1629 sales).
Outside the top 50, the Glee Cast enjoy more chart action - debuting at No.59 with 'Gold Digger' (1382) and No.60 with 'Push It' (1252 copies).
The Sugababes 'Get Sexy' at No.76 in their first week of sales - 837 people thought enough of the track this week to snap it up. Wolfmother's 'New Moon Rising' is up to No.87 (704 sales), Jason DeRulo debuts at No.94 with 'Whatcha Say' and John Farnham's iconic 'You're The Voice' is back in the top 100 on the back of his national tour (641 sales).

ALBUMS : US outfit Paramore's last album 'Riot' peaked at No.47 back in 2007, but fast forward two years and Aussie audiences can't seem to get enough of them - their new album 'Brand New Eyes' makes a big splash - debuting at No.1 on the ARIA albums chart, with 11876 copies walking out of stores last week.
And while the rest of the top ten was pretty much a case of musical chairs, there are a number of debuts just outside.
Alice In Chains debuts at No.12 with 'Black Gives Way To Blue' (3517 sales), AFI's 'Crash Love' is in at No.16 (2688 sales) and Dizzee Rascal makes his entrance at No.18 with 'Tongue N Cheek' (2242 sales).
Outside the top 20, legendary songstress Barbra Streisand is in at No.22 with 'Love Is The Answer' (1919 copies) and Vera Lynn can't quite replicate her No.1 British success here - 'We'll Meet Again (The Very Best Of Vera Lynn)' is in at No.25 (1797 sales).
More debuts between positions 30 and 40 - No.34 for Philadelphia Grand Jury (1375 copies of 'Hope Is For Hopers') and No.40 for Brand New (1200 copies of 'Daisy').
Cascada's album 'Evacuate The Dancefloor' debuts at No.58 with 952 copies, the Fame soundtrack is in at No.59 (940 copies) and Gin Wigmore's album 'Holy Smoke' pops in at No.69 (817 copies).

What's happening with Damien Leith's To Get To You single? People were toting it as the great white hope but it's not in the ARIA top 50, the Australian chart or even the itunes top 100. Any sales figures??

Hey AuspOp!

Thanks for your info. I was just wondering, how did Mariah's "Obsessed" sell this week?

Thanks :)

Tim said...

Oh thanks, I sent the comment just as you updated it. THANKS SO MUCH! Mariah's only 1 week away for GOLD SALES (for "Obsessed"). Great performance for a song with such low airplay. Thanks auspOp!

Thanks guys...love your work.

Did Bon Jovi chart at all this week?

Irishffy said...

Do you know what position Damien Leith debut on the chart? How many he sold last week?

auspOp said...

Hey gang,

No chart love for Damien Leith just yet, possibly next week! And the same goes for Bon Jovi's new track.

For Sam, Kate Miller-Heidke's album 'Curiouser' at No.08 sells 5154 copies this week.
Her single 'The Last Day On Earth' at No.06 bags a further 8801 sales.

Hope this helps!
And thanks again for your patience.

Hey Anonymous,

Cassie's single 'Differently' is no longer in the top 100, so we no longer have any sales data, unfortunately.

But Damien Leith had few appearances , good articles to promote the new single and theme song rotated for the show 'Mercy', I thought it would help? damnmit Itune clogged with Glee songs. Thanks

Damien Leith is a popular boy, looking forward to his new album this Friday :)

Thanks AuspOp. Kate is going so well. Amazing what has happened with her due to finally getting some decent radio play after The Last Day On Earth was featured on Neighbours. Who would have thought an album out of the top 50 for so long could come back like that. Especially almost making it up to the very top of the ARIA charts. I bet she is still pinching herself. Well done to her. She deserves it. Damien's song. A real puzzler that one. You would think with it being featured on the Mercy add it would crack enough sales to get inside the top 100. Even a thousand sales would have got it there. Neighbours might have been a better move.

The reason Damo Leith didn't chart is because he's a crap version of Keane aimed at nannas. I notice Coin Laundry's still going strong after all this time... :-p

Cassie Davis's "Differently" was certified Gold this week.

Anonymous said...

Sorry - make that last month for Cassie Davis (she's on the September certifications list).

Matt said...

Hey Auspop thanks for the Jessica Mauboy sales like always, do you have any Jordin Sparks sales?

Also regaring Cassie Davis her single Differntly went Gold last months well actually at the end of August.

Thanks Regards!
