Best known for her role as Blair Waldorf in the hit television series Gossip Girl, and her guest vocals on the Aussie chart smash 'Good Girls Go Bad' by Cobra Starship, 23 year old Texan actress Leighton Meester has just signed a recording contract with Universal Republic over in the United States. And for her very first single 'Somebody To Love', she's roped in the extra vocal talent of Mister Robin Thicke.
The track is precisely where pop's headed these days, sparkly electro-pop, with Robin's soulful vocals complementing Leighton's sultry, almost-whispered vocals rather perfectly.
The track is the first to be lifted from Leighton's debut album, due to drop in the second quarter of 2010 - an album which is set to feature collaborations with producer JR Rotem (JLS, Leona Lewis, Jason DeRulo, Anastacia) and hit songwriter and American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi.
Fans can sample the track over at her OFFICIAL MYSPACE.
No word yet on Australian release, but we reckon it won't be too far away.
