It seems word spreads like wildfire when you're talking about Madonna. Within hours of news hitting the net both on this site and on respected industry site www.undercover.com.au about a rumoured 2010 Aussie tour for the Material Girl, the King of gossip Perez Hilton has tweeted that rumours of an Australian Madonna tour are untrue. And late tonight, news.com.au also refuted claims that the tour is set to go ahead, quoting touring agent Paul Dainty as saying, "Stranger things have happened, but it's not very likely."
Interestingly, Undercover's story has also been altered slightly this evening, adding a "maybe" and an "if true" to the story, along with the addition of a question mark at the end of the headline "Madonna Australian Tour Imminent".
Thankfully, we had placed the following at the bottom of our original article JUST in case;
"We cannot confirm that any of the details contained in the email are true, and we're not suggesting they are, but it certainly makes for interesting and exciting reading, particularly for local fans of the Material Girl, who've waited almost 17 long years to see her back on Australian shores."

Hey Anonymous,
Apparently so.
We covered our asses by questioning the email's claims in our original article;
"We cannot confirm that any of the details contained in the email are true, and we're not suggesting they are, but it makes for interesting reading"
We'd never be so silly as to fully believe an anonymous email.
A respected industry site took the news as gospel when they received the same email.
They edited their story a number of times throughout the day to add "maybes" and "if true".
Our original article is the same as when it first posted.
We had also placed a link last night to the Herald Sun story you've alerted us to - in the very article you've just commented on.

It's a shame - I'd have LOVED to have seen her!
