As one half of respected and celebrated Aussie dance/pop duo Disco Montego, Dennis Dowlet impressed many by co-writing and co-producing some of the classiest pop music to come out of the country in a long time. But in 2005, everything in his world changed with the tragic sudden passing of his brother and Disco Montego co-hort Darren.Dennis then disappeared, taking time to travel the globe in an effort to process his incredible loss.
Almost five years on, and after a lot of soul searching, Dennis has revealed his new project, Electric Empire. Launches for the band have been held in recent weeks, with all reports glowing about the new trio, which also features Jason Heerah and Aaron Mendoza.
Electric Empire's sound is of a sweet, smooth blend of soul and funk that sounds like it could have been ripped straight from '70s Philly. It's not hard to hear traces of the band's influences who include Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway.
A band with a great sound and fantastic credentials.
