EMAIL TRICKSTER AT IT AGAIN?

Could the person who caused a stir amongst Madonna fans with fake rumours of a July tour earlier this year have been at it again? It certainly seems that way, with Sony Music forced to deny email reports that Susan Boyle was headed to Australia in August for a series of live concert dates.
The email, which this time seems to have been sent to the News Limited newspapers throughout the country, as well as infiltrating the NineMSN website, claimed that the Scottish superstar would visit our shores in August this year and play three shows each in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. The email also reportedly claimed she would visit New Zealand for two shows in Auckland.
A spokesperson for the "London Music Group" reportedly wrote "ticketing details for all performances will be released soon."
But Sony Music has officially scotched suggestions that Susan will be visiting as "completely false".
The fake Subo tour email harks back to another incident in early March when a man claiming to be a "touring industry insider" said that Madonna was planning an Australian visit in July. This email too was a fake.

(For the first time, we've decided to print the fake 'Madonna tour' email in the comments section of this post. It's extraordinarily detailed.)

THE FAKE EMAIL SENT TO CERTAIN PRESS BACK IN MARCH CLAIMING MADONNA WAS ABOUT TO ANNOUNCE AN AUSTRALIAN TOUR.

THIS EMAIL WAS SENT TO A NUMBER OF MUSIC INDUSTRY WEBSITES. WE DIDN'T FALL FOR IT;

"Hey mate,

Big fan of auspOp here, so I wanted to let you know the exciting news about Madonna's soon-to-be-announced Australian tour and give you the scoop. My name cannot be revealed in any way, and I will not enter into any further communication, but if you need to name a source, you can say 'a touring company insider'.

Later this month, Madonna will announce an Australian 'greatest hits' tour, to be called The Celebration Tour. The concerts - which will take place in July - will be a special 'thank you' tour to Australian fans who have been waiting for almost two decades to see the Material Girl down under (her last and only tour here being The Girlie Show in 1993). It will be an arena tour of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.

At this stage, there are ten shows planned: three each in Sydney and Melbourne, two in Brisbane, and one each in Perth and Adelaide. Incidentally, the Perth show will be her first ever concert in that city.

It is not expected that many more (if any) additional shows will be announced for Australia beyond the ten dates - the ticket prices will be the highest ever seen down under. There will be five levels of ticketing:

- Bronze (70 per cent of tickets): $249 AUD
- Silver (25 per cent): $499
- Gold (4 per cent): $999
- Ultimate (1 per cent): $2,000
- There will also be an optional 'extra' available to Ultimate ticketholders - for an extra $1,000, Ultimate ticketholders will enjoy a backstage 'meet and greet' after the show. This would involve a meeting with Madonna, a photo opportunity, and a personally signed copy of the tour program. Champagne and canapes, and limousine transfers may also be included, but this is TBC. This option may be marketed as 'penultimate' tickets, however this is also TBC. At $3,000, it is believed that Ultimate customers who take advantage of the 'meet and greet' option will have purchased the most expensive concert tickets in world history; the only higher prices paid will have been by wealthy private individuals who have engaged a performer for a special occasion.

It is expected that there will be some 'backlash' in Australia about the ticket prices, however this will be countered by the tour's focus on Australia (it will be marketed in Australia as a special 'gift' to her Aussie fans), and by its relatively 'intimate' nature (i.e. an arena tour of 'entertainment centres' as opposed to a stadium tour).

There will also be 250 tickets given away to charity for each show, in addition to the usual radio comps and other ticket giveaways.

While The Celebration Tour will be focussed very much on Australia, it will also visit several overseas cities: NYC, LA, Paris, London, Berlin and Hong Kong OR Tokyo. Prices will be less expensive at these dates than in Australia, however these shows will occur in stadiums as opposed to the Australian arena shows.

There will be no extension of the tour to overseas cities beyond the abovementioned; it is primarily a greatest hits tour for Australia, which has missed out on so many of Madonna's previous tours.

Incidentally, the Melbourne show at Rod Laver Arena will be fllmed and screened the following night on HBO, followed several months later by an international DVD release.

And that's pretty much all the info I have - the rest will be revealed later this month.

Cheers mate,
Seb"

Wow! That email was extraordinarily detailed! If only it were true! I think with every missed tour opportunity it becomes less likely that she will make it to our shores.

You know auspOp, my mother always said "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all"... in which case, the SuBo/Mage tour anounncer, Seb, would say nothing, ever!

He is the meanest, cruelest, cold hearted, red-faced, tour email meanie in all of email history!

Uh, no offense.

Love youse,
Jackson.

P.S. Oooh, poppycock! Sorry auspOp for revealing my name, but if you need to name a source, you can say 'a little doofus that hates Seb so much he loves auspOp'.

P.P.S. That is all.

"While The Celebration Tour will be focussed very much on Australia"

-I think THAT'S the part that gives it away. As if anyone at Madonna's level (commercially speaking) would "focus" a tour on Australia; they'd all rather focus on where the big money is (US and Asia).

I hate these fake rumours. Also interesting to read that email, it's pretty obvious that it's made up.

There isn't a place to comment for this so I'll just use the latest post.

I just want to say that I love the regular changing of the CD covers pic at the top of the auspOp home page, they always look awesome (plus GaGa has been in each one, yay!).

I knew that too, #*Fish*pOP*.

Now, sorry if I revealed my name in comment No. 3, but also, I'm very sorry I called Seb, 'the meanest, cruelest, cold hearted, red-faced, tour email meanie in all of email history'. Pinky swear??

P.S. F.I.$.H.P.().P & #*Fish*pOP*, I see lots of symbols in those names, but PLEASE take away that, and change your names to fishpOp, that way it could make things better, and less symbol..iy.

P.P.S. Sorry.

P.P.P.S. That is all.

I will Anonymous, I was just kind of bored but now I know someone doesn't like that, I'll keep it as fishpop (stylized with the capital O).
