The song first hit the ARIA charts only four short weeks ago, but EMI has announced that Katy Perry's new single 'California Gurls' has now officially been classified platinum in Australia for sales of more than 70,000 copies.'California Gurls' this week hit the No.1 position on the ARIA singles chart and its spot looks virtually guaranteed in the weeks ahead, with remixes and the video making their way to the digital music stores.
The single becomes Katy's fourth platinum single success in Australia, following on from 'I Kissed A Girl', 'Hot 'N' Cold' and 'Waking Up In Vegas'.
Her new album 'Teenage Dream' is released locally on Friday August 27.
