KELIS : 4th Of July (Fireworks)

Once again, Australian radio criminally ignored Kelis' kick-arse last single 'Acapella'. It was a UK top five hit - and even charted at No.1 on the Billboard dance chart, but presumably because it wasn't spending any time in the (mainstream) Billboard 100, there was 'no story' and its local chances fizzled. (How the US top 100 still has any bearing on Australian airplay is still beyond us).
But, fear not - the Kelis juggernaut rolls on with single No.2 - '4th Of July'.
Once again, Kelis pops out the dance grooves and the killer costumes and takes them out to the desert, where she swelters in the heat haze.
Then when the night steals the day, things get interesting, with all sorts of wicked lighting effects giving the clip an electrifying after-dark vibe. Another top club thumper with endless potential that will no doubt be passed over by Aussie commercial radio.
Bah!
