KYLIE HITS HEY HEY

It's been a heck of a long time since she last appeared on the show, but Channel 9 and Warner Music have announced that Kylie Minogue will return to the set of Hey Hey It's Saturday on Wednesday July 21 to perform her new single 'All The Lovers' and another track.
According to the official press release, it will mark the singer's first performance on Australian television for ten years.
Says Kylie, "Hey Hey - you're back! I'm suddenly eight years old, lying on the floor, watching Hey Hey it's Saturday. I've always, always, always loved you and I'm going to be with you on July 21st. I'm going to come play with you and perform my new single so look out - and Dickie, I don't want any grief from you. Doubt that's going to happen, but I'll see you guys soon.”
Kylie is set to be joined on the show by a troupe of 25 dancers, along with a 'no expenses spared' set including state of the art lighting and costumes.

Perhaps a performance on Dancing With The Stars as well? Aside from that, we've not got a lot of options as far as prime time TV goes. How about an hour long Molly Meldrum (or someone else) interview? That could be good. Any other shows I'm forgetting?

Wouldn't be surprised if she boycotts Sunrise after the shocking "interview" with Larry Emdur and Sam Armytage when X came out.

"All the Lovers" has flopped. Even though it is a bad song in my opinion, I thought it would at least crack the top ten because it is the comeback single from Kylie of course, but it sadly failed. Perhaps that is why she is promoting it. Still, by the time July 21st comes, most of us will be ready to hear the second single by then. She should forget about "All the Lovers" and focus on something worthwhile. I can not stand that song anymore.. As usual, promotion will drag songs released a couple of months back, on and on and on, getting a shot at trying to absolutely make people love music that they never enjoyed before. This will create a typical swamp of sleeper hits in the Australian market. Hence later this year, the radio will be flooded with songs from 6 months ago instead of playing new music. :(

Hey Brad,

Some good points raised there.
We reckon Kylie's non top ten placing will have something to do with the fact the track went to radio more than a month before it was made available.
People don't want to wait that long anymore for a digital track, so if it's available illegally, they'll go for that instead.
Record companies can't afford to make people wait that long anymore, especially in the digital age, and hopefully when single No.2 comes by, it'll be made available within days of hitting radio.

I've listened to a preview of each track from the new album on iTunes, and i'd have to say, a majority of tracks sound excellent. It makes me question why Kylie herself or her label even considered "All the Lovers" as a single in the first place. Especially as the lead single, which is typically known in the industry to be one of the strongest tracks from its following album. Although the full album hasn't been released, "All the Lovers" certainly does not come anywhere close to the top when judging the album by all the 30 second previews.

There are two exceptionally strong, standout tracks: "Get Outta My Way" or "Put Your Hands Up (If You Feel Love)" which both could of been a perfect choice for a lead single. That is however, not the case, so I am hoping they can be the second and third singles.

All The Lovers stalled at radio, so it was always going to struggle in sales. Kylie's appearance on Hey Hey will give it a major sales boost, but by that stage, we'll be looking at a re-entry to the Top 40, not a leap into the Top 10. If Warners had released the track to iTunes as soon as it hit radio, it would have sold on the Kylie Minogue name rather than its having been heard by lots of people who then rushed out and bought it (since airplay was so minimal that not many people had heard it anyway). More people have heard it now and they're just not buying it. It's a completely different story in the UK, though - it hit #1 on the airplay chart last week and debuted at #4 on the sales chart.
