'The Writer' is a slight departure from the more experimental pop stylings of Ellie Goulding's previous two singles and takes the rather straight forward approach to a love-smacked ballad. Once again we find ourselves enchanted by the singer's striking voice and in the clip we find some summery flowing fabrics, a seaside field, a lighthouse, plenty of blue fabric for Ellie to float on and one pair of impossibly glossy lips to further entice the men folk. Some of the cinematography in this is rather breathtaking, but none more so than the final shot - stunning.
