EMI has just advised us that Katy Perry's brand new album 'Teenage Dream' - only on sale since Friday - has just achieved GOLD accreditation here in Australia. EMI has shipped more than 35,000 copies out to stores in the album's first six days, while the singles from it are also sharing the spoils of success.'California Gurls' has been certified triple platinum, while its follow-up 'Teenage Dream' has already achieved platinum status in just four and a bit weeks on sale.
Beyond our shores, Katy's album has just debuted at No.1 on the Billboard album chart.

do you know if the smelly version is on sale here in australia?
Hey Tony,
Yes, our copy stinks! HA!
Unsuspecting record company staff have reported sensing a strange odour coming from some of the boxes, so that's a total yes. Ours smell.
Head to your nearest CD store and cop a whiff.

Ohh, I hope the smell is not..er, you-know-what!!
You can't smell it until it's unsealed. Then watch out. At least the scented Madonna albums smelled nice.
I bought the deluxe limited edition from JB Hi-Fi last Friday and the front cover and the booklet is scented. My one doesn't have the artist name and album title on the cover though, unlike the one in this blog post which I believe is an image of the standard version. It also does not have the regular album CD case. It has a glossy finish and opens kind of like a book.
@Brad. The title and the artist should be on stickers on the deluxe edition. The standard edition cover looks tacky :p
