MINI WRAP

• Warner Music has announced the local release of the brand new LP for Eric Clapton. 'Clapton' is the guitar icon's 19th solo record and will be released in Australia on Friday September 24.
• Speaking of Warner Music, their local dance diva Zoe Badwi's kicking some serious goals with her new single 'Freefallin'. Not only has the track rocketed into the iTunes top 30, but it's hit No.1 on the ARIA club chart, following on from the similar chart success of her debut single 'Release Me'. The song has also been signed for release throughout Europe, in the UK and in the United States, with the buzz slowly but surely building. Look out for our chat with Zoe soon.
• Universal Music has announced that Taio Cruz, who's currently atop the ARIA singles chart with his track 'Dynamite' is remarkably the first UK solo male artist to top the Australian singles chart since George Michael all the way back in 1996!
• Congratulations to the team at Michael Coppel who took out the Best International Contemporary Concert category at Monday night's Helpmann Awards. The awards celebrate all that is great about live entertainment in Australia and Coppel took the gong for their extraordinary handling of last year's visit by US superstar Pink.
• Also at the Helpmann Awards, The Big Day Out took out the prize for the Best Contemporary Music Festival.
• And the boys from Aussie outfit Lowrider have announced another series of live shows. They'll kick off the mini-tour with two dates at Melbourne's Northcote Social Club this Friday and Saturday nights before heading on to the ACT, New South Wales, Tasmania and South Australia. All the dates are available at the band's OFFICIAL WEBSITE.

True it has been a long time since a UK solo artist topped the Aria charts, but wouldn't the last time be by Elton John with Candle In The Wind 1997/Something About The Way You Look Tonight in 1997. Think Universal has their facts wrong there.
