ALEXANDRA BURKE : The Silence

We've been waiting for Alexandra Burke to bust out a kick-ass ballad ever since she waltzed away with the X Factor grand prize a couple of years back and shortly thereafter released her gospel-tinged take on the Leonard Cohen track 'Hallelujah'.
Enter 'The Silence' - a reworking of an Alexandra album track lifted from a re-release of her debut LP 'Overcome'. Yes, it's a ballad. Yes, it's got some big ballad moments - and yes, the clip's in black and white and is styled to within an inch of her fake eyelashes and big baubly earrings.
It's grand, it's stirring, it's emotional, it's raw and honest. It's the kind of track Leona Lewis would be busting a gut to covet and it's got a key change to add further fuel to the pop home fires.
Has Alexandra delivered to us the ballad of the year?

Am I right in thinking the only differences in this "reworked" version are the choir being added into the background, and it being about 30 seconds shorter than the album version?

I prefer the album version TBH, as I did with "All Night Long" as well - the single version of that with Pitbull destroyed an awesome song IMO.

Also, any idea if this re-release will be coming out here anytime soon?

Hey Todd,

Oooh we love a choir!
Highly doubtful that we'll see this reworked version here - and if we did we doubt it would be anytime soon, given we didn't even get the 'Start Without You' in Australia.

AMAZING! Was really afraid this song might not get a proper release when she released start without you. I'm kind of liking this re-edit, it's a little more subtle than the single version of 'all night long'.
Not really liking the video very much, but she can make that up with a big big big live performance on the UK X-Factor or any other show, can't wait to hear her sing this live.

Shame the re-release does not have an australian release (yet). I'll have to get it on my Eurotrip this christmas then :)
