CARLY RAE JEPSEN : This Kiss

When you're the woman behind the year's biggest earworm, there's a certain amount of expectation that falls on your shoulders. Let's face it, it's going to be hella difficult for Carly Rae Jepsen to top her international smash 'Call Me Maybe', which has already hit eight times platinum here in Australia (560,000 copies). And if she doesn't do so, there'll be many in the industry who'll be prematurely predicting the end.
So in a lot of respects, 'This Kiss' is an important track.
In essence, it's a song about cheating on your partner. Knowing that you and the kiss-ee are both partnered up, but wanting to make sure you don't miss the opportunity to lock lips with the hotty in the room anyway.
It's not as fun, frothy and instant as 'Call Me Maybe' and we doubt it's got much of a chance of being as successful, but it's a commendable, radio-friendly follow-up that plays right to her target market.
