BEST OF 2013 : No.06

Thanks to her label Sony, we popped along to our first P!nk show as part of her record-breaking concert series earlier this year and were mightily impressed by her showmanship. We commented to the label afterwards that we put the US singer's popularity in Australia down to the fact that we Aussies are pretty good at spotting bullshit... and P!nk's the antithesis of it.
'Just Give Me A Reason' was a deserved No.1 hit here in Australia. Masterfully combining the crisp vocal of Fun. frontman Nate Ruess with our adopted pop daughter, the single was quickly embraced by radio stations across the country and subsequently hit No.1, spending four non-consecutive weeks there earlier in the year.
Right from that opening piano riff, you sensed that 'Just Give Me A Reason' was to be something special. And so it was, especially around the crescendo at the 2:40ish mark. Goosebump stuff.
She's an undisputed star, she deserves a place in our top ten. And we've gifted her the No.6 spot. P!nk... 'Just Give Me A Reason'.

Overrated. She's been releasing the same album since 2003.

But I guess if it works for her and continues to out sell herself then good on her.

I'm completely and utterly stunned that the operators of the greatest pop blog in Australia (and one of the very finest in the world) hadn't been to a single P!nk concert before this year! It's almost shameful!! ;-) Did you not think she was worth the price of the tickets in the past...??

Very disappointed auspop don't see through her because for me she is complete 'bullshit', ie completely playing a part to make some sales. Oh well, her Aussie audience will tire of her soon because each album is so similar. Can't some soon enough...
PS loving auspop this year and your top 10 otherwise :)

Yes Pink's voice is incredible as usual but this song was so predictable. Run of the mill boringness

Was loving the Top 10 Countdown, until now.

Oh no!

Perhaps No.5 will appease the P!nk haters...

Great song choice AUspOp!

A fine choice. Yes, her musical styling through different albums is not a significant variant, but why change when you know what you're good at?! A good melody, good lyrics, a near-perfect vocal collaboration and a global number one this is. (Her live performances, I find, are getting more boring than the music especially with the excessive use of the trapeze (this was the third/fourth tour now using it).)

What a crappy song, and Nate Ruess makes an already crappy song even worst. Sixth best song of the year - you've got to be kidding.
